About me

My name is Sofia Lind and I am studying at Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark.

I was born in 1983 in Sweden, but decided to move to Denmark to study in 2005. The main reason for this choice is the schools good reputation.

Architecture and Me

My personal interests lies in the concepts and aesthetics of architecture. My approach to my studies has been one of great dedication and hard work. I focus on constantly improving my skills as an architect – practical as well as theoretical.  I’m connected to The Department of Architecture. The department carries out research, innovation work and instruction within the fields of:

  • The basic elements and core areas of architecture, including for instance space, form, light, materiality, technology and functionality on the basis of artistic, architecture theoretical and practical approaches
  • Conceptual, technological, functional and environmental issues regarding building of housing, industrial and commercial buildings and institutions.
  • Methods and tools as regards concept development, project design and production.

It is a great challenge for me, to work with all these themes in symbiosis.

One subject I find very exciting, and of current interest, is the interactive and performative within architecture; projects that combines experience, learning and leisure, that involves and activates the users. For example; learning labs, performative urban spaces and hybrid cultural projects.

In the autumn of 2008 I was involved in three open architectural competitions – 3iNord – in collaboration with two fellow students and a small practice in Aarhus, Kraft-værk Architects. The collaboration turned out to be more than good… it has not only been a great opportunity for me to improve my skills and to get a lot of experience, but as an extra bonus we won two 2nd prizes.

The whole year of 2009 I have been working as an intern. I spent the first 6 months at the small but very dynamic office BSAA Architects and the last 6 months I have been working at C.F Møller Architects, one of Scandinavia’s oldest and largest arcitectural practices. Both practices has their offices here in Århus.

In February 2010 I returned to school to finish my education. My goal for the last year as an Architect student, is to be more experimental and innovative. I will put more energy in the research and the analyze, and I won’t be afraid of trying new methods out.
The theme for my project this semester is going to be children and activity, with focus on how to motivate and inspire children and young people to be more physical active.

I have a strong desire to improve my skills as an architect on an international level as well as national. My reason for this desire is my wish to be able to take part in projects that reach beyond the Scandinavian borders.

I love to travel, to see new places and to meet new people and I would really enjoy to work in a foreign country in the future.
