The background for the competition is a wish to put more focus on the Norwegian culture and tourism and the industry connected to the forest and wood. The development of these museums should make the interest for the local traditions bigger. There is a wish for an architecture that combines old traditions with new knowledge about wood – so that the visitors will learn about the past, the present and the future.
