About: Public space & culture – Gellerup, Århus
The location for this project is the same as in the assignment about Density (6th semester). It is called Gellerup, and it is situated to the west of Aarhus. The area has both social and physical problems.
The semester had its take off in a strategy plan, already developed by the municipal together with a group of architects from Aarhus. In the strategy plan, emphasize was put on a physical change for this area.
Our assignment was to design a multifunctional and public building, on a site the size of 5000 m2, located in the heart of Gellerup.
The theme for the building was to be chosen individually. I I have put my focus on the concept of hybrid cultural space and I have tried to create a contrast to the surroundings.
